It is with great regret that John Munro, chairperson of Trafalgar Housing Association, advises of the death of Harriet Haire MBE on Thursday, 25th January 2018, aged 87.
Etta, as she was known to all, was one of the founding members of the Association, and served on the board from 1989 to 2017, including three terms as chairperson.
Etta was not only a great asset to Trafalgar, she was also an anchor in the wider local community, and was a force in the development of local activities for children and senior citizens.
Etta was a fantastic ambassador for Trafalgar and was a regular participant in both local and national housing activities. When her hard work was recognised in the New Year Honours List in 2000, Etta selflessly said that she was pleased to accept on behalf of everybody at Trafalgar.
Etta fought tirelessly to improve the conditions for the residents of the Trafalgar Street area and was crucial to the Association gaining a second competitive stock transfer in the Terraces area which not only brought a transformation of that area, but helped secure the future of the Association. Etta will be sorely missed by her friends, neighbours, staff and committee members as well, of course, as her family.
The funeral service will be at Morrison Memorial Church, Clydebank, on Monday February 12 at 1.30pm, thereafter to Clydebank Crematorium, North Dalnottar, at 2.30pm. Family flowers only please, donations will be accepted for Robin House CHAS.
