Cunninghame Housing Association is celebrating the success of one its tenants groups at the recent Tenant Participation Advisory Service Scotland (TPAS Scotland) Gala Dinner Awards.

The Longpark Tenant’s & Residents’ Association from Kilmarnock won the prestigious Tenant & Resident Group of the Year good practice award which was sponsored by the Scottish Government and supported by Fife Council.

The award, presented to the group by television weatherman Sean Batty, was for the tireless work and commitment group members give to their local community. The range of involvement and support offered by the group impressed the judges along with the many diverse local community events organised by the group.

The Group’s secretary, Stella Murphy, admitted she was totally surprised to win the award, but was over the moon.

She said: “The award is a nice recognition for the work the committee members do and more importantly gives Longpark more positive publicity. This award helps to show that Longpark is a great place to live with a great community spirit.”

Frank Sweeney, chief executive of Cunninghame Housing Association, added: “for the Longpark Tenants’ & Residents’ Association to have won this prestigious award is fantastic. Longpark is a vibrant community with a strong tenants’ and residents’ Group, this award recognises their hard work and that of our community, participation & engagement officer, Ian Macpherson.”
