BHA has donated £500 each to Berwickshire Churches and East Berwickshire food banks to help them through this difficult period. It has also offered to be part of a multi-agency team to help deliver if this is required.

The need for supplies is greater than ever. From donating goods and money to volunteering, there are many ways to contribute.

For the Berwickshire Churches Foodbank donations can be left in the foyer of Duns Parish Church at the foot of the stairs Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

For the East Berwickshire Foodbank collection points include Eyemouth Co-op, Reston Post Office, Eyemouth Catholic Church, Coldingham Priory, Eyemouth Parish Church, Eyemouth Pool and SPLASH.

Among the items needed are pasta, jars of pasta sauce, tins of stew or similar, tinned pie, tins of pilchards, corned beef and ham etc, cuppa-soup or tins of soup, jam, tea bags, coffee, breakfast cereal, long-life milk (liquid or powder), tins of rice pudding, tins of fruit, tins of potatoes and tins of vegetables and baked beans.

BHA has also provided high-viz vests to Cockburnspath and Cove Community Council’s volunteer action team who are delivering food parcels etc to the vulnerable. They have also printed community assistance leaflets for Ayton Community Council which BHA staff are helping to deliver.

BHA’s Befriend team have also been helping by calling the vulnerable and helping to deliver assistance leaflets in conjunction with Eyemouth Community Council.

Dan Blake, operations director at BHA, said: “We have taken this opportunity to support the dedicated and monumentous volunteer effort within our communities. BHA, amongst our many community partners, are doing all we can to ensure no one has to go without the vital essentials in these deeply unsettling times.”
