Ferguslie Park Housing Association freezes rents for next financial year

Ferguslie Park Housing Association (FPHA) has decided to keep rents at their current level for the next financial year.

The board said the decision is in keeping with its aim to ensure that the Association’s rents remain fair and give value for money and follows a tough year with the negative impact of coronavirus still being felt.

The Association said: “By using information available to us we compare ourselves against lots of housing associations in Scotland. We are pleased to say by keeping rents at the same level our average rent increase is the 2nd lowest in comparison with 92 Associations over the past three years. This also means that the rent for the Association are lower than the average for those housing providers that we benchmark against.”

It added: “Whilst we have worked hard to keep rent levels the same we are also aware of the need to invest in your home and the community. Over the past three we have invested over £2 million in new kitchens, bathrooms, boilers, binstores; new windows and doors and upgrades to smoke detection systems.

“However, our investment doesn’t stop there. In the year ahead it is planned for a further £1.5m of planned improvements. As part of our plans, we will be consulting with tenants on improvements they think are needed to the outside of homes and to the wider environment so we can examine further improvements to Ferguslie in the longer term.”
