Senior citizens in Ruchill, Glasgow got the perfect early Christmas present this week with a fabulous festive lunch thanks to Maryhill Housing Association.

Held at Ruchill Community Centre, the occasion treated local people in later life to a Christmas get-together.

The Senior Citizens’ Christmas Lunch was part of Maryhill Housing Association’s ‘Wee Volunteer Project’ which involves staff doing good work in the community.

Eleven Maryhill staff came along to help serve up piping hot soup and sandwiches, tea, coffee and cake to local residents.

Christmas music and a game of bingo got the residents into the seasonal mood.

Maryhill Housing Association’s community regeneration manager, Ruth Adam, said: “The event was a great success and well attended by Ruchill senior citizens. We hope they found the Lunch to their taste. All of us felt very privileged to be helping out.”
