The Scottish Housing Regulator has announced the death of its former chair Kay Blair who passed away on Monday after an illness.

Ms Blair became the Regulator’s first chair when she was appointed in 2011 and held the position until August 2017.

Announcing the news on its website, the Regulator said: “It is with great sadness we share the news that Kay Blair, ex chair of SHR, passed away yesterday after an illness. Kay was SHR’s first chair. She held the position from 2011 until August 2017. We will miss her.”

Responding to the announcement on social media, George Walker, who succeeded Kay Blair as chair at the Regulator, said: “SHR was saddened to hear the news. Kay was committed to ensuring Scottish social housing is the best it can be. In handing over to me her sage advice was ‘keep it all about the tenants’. A small lady but a huge force in stature and commitment. She will be missed by all at SHR.”
