Hebridean Housing Partnership secures Scottish Government funding

Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) has secured funding from the Scottish Government’s Supporting Communities Fund thanks to Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

The fund has been created to support local communities and households who are suffering as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

HHP will be working alongside its partners Citizens Advice Service Stornoway (CAB), Volunteering Hebrides and with various small community groups in the Stornoway area to deliver services which will reach approximately 1000 people and benefit many of our tenants between now and the end of September.

John Maciver, director of operations at HHP, said: “The COVID-19 lockdown has impacted everyone, and sadly many are experiencing times of hardship and lonlieness like never before. We will use this funding to focus on fuel poverty, whilst CAB build on their food distribution work with FareShare and Volunteer Hebrides continue in their efforts to tackle social isolation.”

Whilst this particular funding is for those in the Stornoway area, funding has also been distributed to organisations across the Outer Hebrides.

Residents in other areas can contact their local community council or other community groups to find out what help is available in their area.
