Hillcrest to begin work on latest Dundee development

Sinclair St West elevationHillcrest Housing Association is to shortly begin work at their latest development in Dundee after awarding a contract to Marshall Construction.

The Sinclair Street development will deliver 32 affordable homes for rent.

David Zwirlein, Hillcrest director of development and new business, said: “The development is behind schedule due to our original contractor going out of business. We are pleased that following a tender process, we have negotiated a new contract with Marshall Construction so quickly which will allow us to start on site in early August. Minimising the inevitable delays in the process was a priority for us in order to continue with our planned development programme.

“We are committed to providing Dundee with good quality affordable housing and our latest development at Sinclair Street will do just that. A mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom properties will be delivered by January next year, marking a much needed injection of affordable housing into the city.”

Robert Marshall, Marshall Construction managing director, added: “We are delighted to have been appointed on this project and look forward to furthering our relationship with Hillcrest Housing Association. Winning this contract was down to the hard work of our team who were involved in the tendering process. We’re delighted to have been able to provide strong evidence of our ability to deliver and to price the work competitively so that we were successful in our bid. It’s not just good news for Marshall Construction, but for the area as a whole, supporting local jobs and people.”

Hillcrest and its partners are currently on-site or have planning approval to develop 119 new homes across Dundee by late 2018 and their aim is to provide 750 new properties throughout Scotland over the next 3 years.
