Tollcross Housing Association chair Andrea Bell and housing minister Kevin Stewart MSP

Tollcross Housing Association’s new £2.9 million headquarters on Tollcross Road, Glasgow was officially opened by minister for local government, housing & planning, Kevin Stewart MSP.

Tollcross currently owns and manages over 2200 houses and flats in the Tollcross, Carmyle and Lilybank/Newbank area. The investment in the new office building is the result of amalgamation of staff following a stock transfer.

The new headquarters will provide an easily accessible one-stop-shop which will bring a variety of benefits to residents. The purpose-built facility will also provide a range of cost efficiencies including savings on overheads and heating.

In addition to opening the new office, Mr Stewart also visited residents of the Dunira Street, Phase 1 development which is situated beside the headquarters. The 47 houses that sit adjacent to Tollcross Housing Association form part of the £8.5m regeneration project at the site, which was made possible due to grant funding from Glasgow City Council. As well as a modern new office for Tollcross Housing Association, the development will also provide much needed affordable homes for the area.

Kevin Stewart MSP said: “I’m delighted to officially open the new headquarters for Tollcross Housing Association and see the benefits this and the neighbouring housing development have brought to the area.

“This regeneration project not only provides modern offices for housing association staff, but brings a range of benefits to the local community as it offers a single point of access to many important services, as well as much needed, high quality, affordable housing.

“It’s been fantastic to meet some of the residents and hear how much they are enjoying living in their new homes. It shows what can be achieved as we work together to meet the housing needs of people and communities throughout Scotland.”

Andrea Bell, chair of Tollcross Housing Association, said: “The voluntary management committee is so proud of what has been achieved here. Everyone has worked hard to produce these fantastic new affordable homes and the new office building.

“Our new office will allow us to offer a wider range of improved services to our tenants and customers, as well as provide a modern office environment for our staff and committee.”
