The spectacular sum was achieved after ‘Team Linstone’ took part in the recent Kilt Walk with several staff undertaking a challenging 23-mile trek from Glasgow to Balloch.

Now Linstone staff have travelled from Linwood to Hyndland where Beatson Cancer Charity is based at Gartnavel Hospital to deliver the proceeds.

The delighted charity said the money will be put to good use in its vital and lifesaving work.

While there, Linstone staff were given a tour of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Charity’s ‘Wellbeing Centre’ - learning first hand about the care and compassion offered by staff and volunteers.

Chief executive Adele Fraser said: “The work done by Beatson Cancer Charity is remarkable and inspirational and we are delighted to have done something to help fund its work.

“Seeing at first hand the care offered to patients made us feel very privileged to be of help.”

Beatson Cancer Charity’s Wellbeing Centre is open seven days a week providing a unique space where in-patients can relax away from the clinical environment and enjoy the stunning 4th floor views across Glasgow.

Tea, coffee, soft drinks and fresh fruit smoothies are available for patients and their families as well as reading materials and board games. Wi-Fi, desktop computers and iPads are also available as well as a cinema which can be used to watch DVDs or television.

Kiltwalk is a unique charity opportunity which enables walkers to raise money for any Scottish charity of their choice.

A record 13,000 people took part in this year’s Kiltwalk raising an astonishing £3.5 million for charities.

More than 6,500 Kiltwalkers started off at Glasgow Green to step out on the 23-mile “Mighty Stride” while 3,700 began a 15-mile “Big Stroll”, and a further  2,800 completed the less-demanding six-mile “Wee Wander.”

Joyce Ross, Beatson Cancer Charity’s corporate fundraising manager, said: “I was delighted to welcome Linstone staff to The Beatson and show the team first hand what Beatson Cancer Charity does.

“I also was pleased to be able to show them where exactly their very generous donation will go.

“Beatson Cancer Charity’s corporate partnerships team would welcome the opportunity to speak to organisations on the work of the charity and chat about fundraising and volunteering activities.”
