Maureen Watson is to leave the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) after more than 25 years, following a restructure of the organisation.

Starting as a policy officer specialising in housing management issues in November 1989, Maureen moved quickly into finance policy issues thereafter. Maureen has also worked on strategic/business planning and regulation and inspection policy areas, amongst many others, and has managed the SFHA’s policy team since 2007.

Maureen said: “After more than 25 years with SFHA, the time has come to seek out a fresh set of challenges. I have really enjoyed serving the members of SFHA over these years. I have had a relatively unique opportunity to meet a diverse range of dedicated people, both in our sector and across sectors.

“I wish to thank everyone who has contributed in some way to making my policy role at SFHA my dream job for such a long time. I am now looking forward to opening new doors, harnessing the knowledge, skills and experience I have gained.”

Maureen has 30 years experience in the Scottish housing sector to date, beginning her career calculating rent and rate rebates and collecting rents at East Kilbride Development Corporation. Maureen has also worked as a housing officer for Shettleston Housing Association and spent a year on secondment at Glasgow Housing Association in the immediate pre and post ballot period.

The SFHA is also saying goodbye to policy manager Susan Torrance. Susan is continuing her inward secondment to the Scottish Government and is committed to progress further work on HARIS in June as a contractor, until October this year.
