Moray Council launches 172-home masterplan consultation

Dallas DhuAn eight-week consultation on a draft masterplan for the Dallas Dhu area on the outskirts of Forres has been launched by Moray Council.

The masterplan – which shows an indicative capacity of 172 houses – covers an area to the south of the town and incorporates sites R6 Mannachie, R10 Dallas Dhu and Forres LONG 2.

The vision is to create a new edge to Forres with an attractive high quality transition from urban to rural.

A landscape-led approach has been used to make the most of the natural features on site, half of which will remain undeveloped.

The masterplan includes the following key elements:

  • A strong frontage onto Mannachie Road punctuated by green wedges
  • A central tree-lined spine street providing visual and physical connectivity through the site
  • Improved access onto the Dava Way and a permeable network of pedestrian and cycle path connections
  • Provision of a range of housing densities and tenures to reflect the edge-of-town location
  • Large areas of green space and wetland habitat
  • As part of the consultation a drop-in exhibition will be held at Forres House Community Centre on Wednesday, March 8 from 4.30pm to 7pm.

Comments on the draft masterplan must be submitted by 5pm on Monday, March 27 by e-mail to localdevelopmentplan@moray.gov.uk or in writing to Local Development Plan, Development Services, Moray Council, PO Box 6760, Elgin IV32 9BX.
