Springfield Properties has transformed a run-down section of land along Cadzow Avenue in Bo’ness with 30 affordable one and two-bedroom apartments.

Now known as Baillie Court, the energy efficient homes were built in partnership with the Link Group and Paragon Housing Association. Construction started on the £3.7 million project in 2017.

Including the 30 homes in Bo’ness, Springfield Partnerships, the affordable development arm of Springfield Properties, has handed over 146 affordable homes across Scotland since the start of the year.

Group partnership managing director, Tom Leggeat, said: “These homes are attractive, spacious and cheap to run. We’ve worked with Link Housing Association and Paragon Housing Association in Bo’ness to give an overgrown pocket of land a new lease of life.

“The homes are economically efficient. They include Photovoltaic solar panels that generate electricity from sunlight reducing the demand for electricity from the grid. Gas saver units are also fitted and utilise potential waste gas from the boiler to preheat water. These features reduce bills, making homes cheaper to run. It’s also better for the environment.

“The development is in a great spot in the town. It overlooks a large public space, neighbours a local shop and is within walking distance of St Mary’s Primary School and Bo’ness Academy.”

Craig Sanderson, chief executive of Link Group Ltd, added: “We are delighted to have been supported by the Scottish Government and Falkirk Council to enable us to build these new, high quality, social rent homes in partnership with Springfield Properties and Paragon Housing Association.”
