Scottish Housing Regulator Board member Simon Little paid tribute to the commitment of active tenants in social housing during the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) annual conference on Saturday.

Speaking to delegates at the St Andrews conference, Simon said: “The Charter shows us that, overall, social landlords are performing well and improving. This is good news for us all. It’s important to acknowledge the significant role that volunteers like yourselves have played in helping to achieve this.

“Active tenants, working closely with landlords and scrutinising performance, play a crucial role in shaping and improving social housing in Scotland.”

Simon highlighted to delegates how the Regulator expects landlords to involve tenants in Charter reporting. He noted the range of positive developments in tenant scrutiny over the last few years.

Simon also discussed how the Regulator involves tenants in its own work through initiatives such as its National Panel of Tenants and Service Users, Tenant Advisors and regular dialogue with the tenant Regional Networks.
