Teresa McNally, SFHA board director and board member of Ochil View Housing Association, was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Teresa’s honour comes for services to community housing.

Responding to the news, she said: “I have always had an interest in my community and in social housing and became involved and active as a tenant locally in Clackmannanshire in the mid-1980’s and have stayed involved ever since.”

Sally Thomas, SFHA Chief Executive, added: “I am delighted to congratulate our Board Director Teresa whose services to community housing have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. This honour acknowledges Teresa’s tireless work over several decades ensuring the people of Scotland can live in a warm, safe, secure and affordable home.

“Over the years, SFHA staff have loved working with Teresa as we value her contributions and have benefitted from her on-going support and positive encouragement. She is committed to the cause and her hard work inspires others.

“It’s always gratifying when honours go to the people who most deserve them - ordinary people doing extraordinary things, like Teresa.

“Everyone at SFHA gives Teresa their heart-felt congratulations on the well-deserved honour.”

Teresa was elected onto the local District Council at a by-election in 1988 and became the councils’ spokesperson for housing in 1990 and becoming a member of Ochil View Housing Association’s management committee as the council’s representative.

Subsequently, Teresa was elected to the board of SFHA in 2010 and served as chair from 2011-14. She is also a former chair of Ochil View, serving in that role between 2002 and 2009.

Teresa is a retired health practitioner and has extensive experience in numerous non-executive roles within local government, central government agencies, the health service and the voluntary sector.
