The service is funded by Glasgow City Council’s Health & Social Care Partnership.

The housing association is currently in its seventh year of delivering this project as part of its wider Care 7 Repair Services.

The service is available for people over the age of 65 in Glasgow. It carries out practical tasks to prepare the home for return from hospital and therefore reduces delays in discharge. The service is also available to people at home who are at risk of hospital admission, to reduce admissions to hospital.

The association submitted a nomination to Age Scotland Awards for its Home & Hospital Handyperson Service. However, it was advised that the awards had received a record number of nominations this year and we weren’t selected as a winner.

Southside Housing Association has said that despite this, it is “absolutely delighted” that Age Scotland felt that the effect the service was having on improving lives was “extremely impressive”.
