Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) has already been secured for this development and Taylor Wimpey’s Approval of Matters Specified by Condition consent sets out its detailed plan for housing mix, landscaping and building materials.

The development will deliver 250 new homes, 25% of which will be affordable. The scope of private new homes includes two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom bungalows, two and three-bedroom terraced and semidetached homes, as well as three, four and five-bedroom detached homes and four-bedroom townhouses.

The affordable properties will comprise a mix of two-bedroom apartments, as well as two and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached homes.

This detailed planning consent for the west of Edinburgh represents a significant investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, and it includes contributions of almost £5 million towards education and transport, as well as an extensive landscape framework that will include the creation of a linear path through the development to link it to the city, landscaping specifically designed to blend in with the local landscape and the existing farmhouse will be retained.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “We are delighted to confirm that we have secured our AMSC detailed planning consent for the development of land at West Craigs in Edinburgh, which follows close consultation with city planners and adjacent landowners over the last few years.

“There will be a provision of 25% affordable homes within the development, and through sums already settled in the Section 75 Agreement, a significant contribution of almost £5million will be made towards local education and transport, which will include improvements to the Maybury and Barnton junctions, and the installation of a crossing on Maybury Road.

“There are a number of technical consents and pre-construction works to complete before we can finalise our timescales for the construction of our new homes, however we hope to begin construction later this year and we will continue to update the local community with our plans.

“As well as delivering much needed new homes in west Edinburgh, our development will provide a range of economic benefits for the local area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.

“This development will be a great addition to the local area, and it also complements our other developments across the region.”
