Thenue Housing hosted an opportunity for new tenants at Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games Village to learn more about the Association.

The opportunity took place last week at the prestigious Emirates Arena which was an East End focal point for the hugely-successful Games.

Tenants from Thenue have now all moved into the 200 homes bought by the Association following the transformation of the athletes’ village into stunning and much-needed new homes.

Thenue said the choice of the Emirates Arena which overlooks many of the properties was the ideal choice given its key role in Glasgow’s golden games.

Staff attending included chief executive Charlie Turner and chair of the management committee Owen Stewart who is also on the committee of community organisation the Bridgeton and Dalmarnock Area Association.

The occasion allowed Thenue to showcase some of its work in communities including its pioneering–back-to-work programme “Learning Works”, answer questions from tenants and also welcome other organisations who were participating.

These included Glasgow Life which is part of Culture and Sport Glasgow, Bridgeton, Calton and Dalmarnock Credit Union and “The Legacy Hub” – Dalmarnock’s eagerly-awaited new community hub which will open soon next to the former games village homes.

Charlie Turner said: “This was an important opportunity for us to ensure our tenants had settled into their homes, that their tenancies are going well and to answer any questions they might have. We thought it very appropriate to host it in the Emirates Arena given its proximity to the homes we have in the former athletes’ village. We hope our tenants found the occasion useful.”
