Triple triumph for Govan Housing Association

Govan Housing Association straplineGovan Housing Association has become the first housing association to have had triple triumph in receiving all three awards from Investors in People Scotland.

The Association achieved IIP Platinum Accreditation, the IIP Health and Wellbeing Award and Investors in Young People Gold Accreditation in recognition of its improvement through people success.

Govan Housing Association has benefitted from ongoing, bespoke advice and support from Investors in People Scotland. In gaining accreditation at Platinum level, the Association’s solid foundation of good practice, which remains aspirational and challenging for many organisations, is demonstrated as is it true commitment to the training and development of their people.

The IIP Health and Wellbeing Award illustrates that Govan Housing Association has recognised the importance of employee health and wellbeing and have taken measures to ensure that it is not only at a high level, but through the Award, also measurable.

The Investors in Young People Gold award demonstrates Govan Housing Association’s desire to continually and effectively recruit, develop and retain young people. It establishes the Association as an employer of choice for young people and testifies to their effective Youth Employment practices.

Commenting on the awards, Fiona McTaggart, chief executive of Govan Housing Association, said: “The Management Committee and staff team are absolutely delighted with these awards. There has been a considerable investment in the staff team of the Association over the last 3-4 years and I am so pleased for both the staff and Management Committee that this has been recognised. Our staff team are an integral part of the organisation and our recent IIP assessment demonstrated just how value driven and committed they are to the Association and its ethos. The staff team are focussed and united in the fact that together we will build a better community for our residents and a community that people feel proud to call their home.

“I feel proud and honoured to lead this great team and feel that what the staff have achieved, in such a short space of time, is truly exceptional. The team have rallied change, united in a passion for the local community, adopted people from all different backgrounds and fostered a culture of positivity, inclusion and drive to better people’s lives.”

Peter Russian, chief executive of Investors in People Scotland, said: “Congratulations to Govan Housing Association on becoming the first housing association to achieve Investors in People Platinum accreditation alongside the Health and Wellbeing award and Investors in Young People Gold accreditation. To achieve one of these is a fabulous achievement but to achieve all three is outstanding and a real mark of the high esteem in which Govan Housing Association hold their people.

“We are seeing a new generation of Investors in People organisations setting higher levels of achievement in how they choose to manage their people. Govan Housing Association is leading the way in the housing sector, and their commitment to their people should be an inspiration and a challenge to everyone.”

Govan Housing Association first achieved Investors in People Accreditation in December 2014 when it was awarded Silver Accreditation and the Investors in Young People Award. The Association is an ambitious, community focused Registered Social Landlord which possesses a rich history and one of development and innovation. After over 40 years of operating in the housing sector, the Association now manages approximately 1,600 socially rented properties and some 580 factored properties as well as taking an active role in the regeneration of the area and continuing to improve the quality of life of residents.
