Trust Housing Association achieves Leaders in Diversity reaccreditation

National housing, support and care provider Trust Housing Association has been reaccredited with the Leaders in Diversity (LiD) award.

The award has recognised the organisation’s ongoing commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) practices.

The accreditation is awarded by the National Centre for Diversity which, over the last 12 years, has been supporting organisations to improve their investment into equality.

After achieving the LiD award for the first time in September 2017, Trust Housing Association applied for reaccreditation in 2019. Assessors reviewed Trust’s Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement (FREDIE) policies, procedures and practices and also conducted staff surveys and site visits.

Following the comprehensive assessment, Trust was awarded reaccreditation at the end of 2019.

The external assessor said: “Trust Housing Association has demonstrated an impressive commitment to FREDIE over many years and is seen as a Leader in Diversity, not just in the housing sector but throughout Scotland. I was impressed by the positive attitude shown by all staff and tenants, who had such a high regard for the Association’s progress on FREDIE. I wish Trust Housing Association continued success in the future.”

Rhona McLeod, CEO, added: “When diversity and inclusion are truly woven into the culture of an organisation, it leads to a happier and more engaged workforce, increased productivity and a greater diversity of talent.

“We see the benefits of a FREDIE approach within our organisation every day as Trust achieves our business goals and our people flourish. We have never been more committed to making equality, diversity and inclusion embedded in Trust and in our relationships with everyone with whom we come into contact.”
