Understanding budgets and gaining a qualification

Budgeting is an important part of many roles and it can sometimes be a difficult one.

SHARE’s course Understanding budgets and gaining a qualification will help you develop your knowledge and understanding of costs and budgets in your housing association/co-operative. The course is specifically aimed at those who are want to progress in their career and who recognise that in order to do that they will need to get their head around the money!

Understanding costs and budgets for your organisation is one of four courses that SHARE is providing this year that can form part of an ilm level 3 award.  The course will help delegates gain a better understanding of the budgetary process.

On costs, delegates will consider the definition of fixed and variable costs; the concept of breaking even, the purpose and nature of basic cost statements; use of standard costs, the role of the manager in cost control, mechanisms to maintain control of costs, and how to select the optimum method.

On budgets, delegates will look at the nature and purpose of budgets; methods to monitor budget variance; causes of variation, their significance and ways of reducing adverse effects; and how to gather information for use in determining and/or revising budgets.

Understanding costs and budgets in your organisation takes place on 6th June at the Bob Allan Conference Centre, Saracen House, 139 Saracen Street from 9.30am – 4.30pm.
