Western Isles councillors to consider 4.8% council tax rise

Council tax in the Western Isles is set to be increased by 4.8% next year, the maximum permitted by the Scottish Government.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar will vote later this week on whether to go ahead with the increase proposed by council officers, the Stornoway Gazette reports.

Rates for Band D properties would rise from £1,086.36 to £1,138.40 per year, or just over a pound a week.
