Understanding Your Asbestos Survey Reports
Asbestos - statistics published and upcoming training
The most recent statistics for mesothelioma, a cancer caused by past exposure to asbestos, show 2,257 people died from the disease in 2022.
This is slightly lower than the 2,290 deaths in 2021, and substantially lower than the average of 2,529 deaths per year over the period from 2012 to 2020.
HSE is currently running two asbestos campaigns:
- Asbestos and You highlights the risk of asbestos to tradespeople
- Asbestos – Your Duty raises awareness of the legal duty to manage asbestos in buildings
Housing H&S Compliance UK Ltd (HHSC) have the following upcoming asbestos training courses where delegates can learn about asbestos and the causes of mesothelioma.
Understanding Your Asbestos Survey Reports - ‘Live online’ public course 5th November 2024
Asbestos surveys are an essential part of an organisation’s asbestos management ‘toolkit’. The aim of this session is to improve knowledge and awareness of the contents of an asbestos survey, the caveats that may be included and what you should do now that you have the information.
As part of the training, delegates will review a typical example of an asbestos survey (they can also bring their own along to the training) to understand the contents including how to identify key requirements, review asbestos sample findings and any drawings, discuss material and priority scores and identify what next steps are required to manage any asbestos that has been identified.
