Job description

Head of Assurance and Business Planning - Edinburgh or Glasgow with opportunity for remote working

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and as a member of the Leadership Team, the Head of Assurance and Business Planning will have responsibility for leading and managing a team responsible for strategic performance management, quality assurance, information governance and risk management, strategic project management support, continuous improvement, policy development and Governance. They will provide leadership, direction and management to assurance and business planning team ensuring the services and advice provided help to promote and embed a performance management culture within Bield. In addition the Head of Assurance and Business Planning will lead in the areas of risk management, internal audit, strategic programmes and governance.

The Candidate

This is a key appointment, requiring a candidate with a track record of delivering strategic and operational results across a wide portfolio, ideally within the voluntary or public sector. They will have previous experience of performance improvement in an organisation of similar size and complexity to Bield. A straightforward and skilled communicator with a flexible and pragmatic approach, they will have experience of creating and implementing new working practices or systems to deliver objectives and leading and managing projects, budgets and teams.
Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience in a relevant role, they will have the ability to plan and prioritise a complex workload. They will also have a strong understanding of IT as a management tool for performance monitoring and benchmarking and a commitment to continuous improvement. Ideally they will also bring relevant experience of strategic policy creation and implementation and knowledge of the regulatory framework in housing, care and voluntary sector.
