Abertay begins housing development at former Dundee primary school site

Work to deliver 43 affordable homes on the site of a former primary school in Dundee is now under way, Abertay Housing Association has confirmed.

The Association is working in partnership with the Scottish Government, Bancon Construction and Dundee City Council on the former Charleston Primary School site.

Barry Moore, chief executive of Abertay Housing Association, said: “Abertay Housing Association is delighted to be working in partnership with the Scottish Government and Dundee City Council to develop much needed high quality affordable housing in Dundee. 

“We are equally delighted to be working in partnership with Bancon Construction and, with positive enthusiasm, seeing the development of 43 homes rise from the ground over the coming months.”

Gavin Currie, managing director of Bancon Construction, added: “Affordable housing is critical to the Scottish Government’s 2021 ambitions of delivering at least 50,000 new homes and we are both honoured and excited to be working in partnership with Abertay Housing Association on this project.

“We have considerable experience in the residential market and our team is very much looking forward to getting started on site to deliver quality homes for the local community.”
