CALA completes Jordanhill Campus acquisition to deliver 400 homes

CALA Homes (West) has completed the purchase of the former Jordanhill Campus where the housebuilder is set to create more than 400 homes.

Almost £100 million will be invested in the 31-acre site, which is to be known as Jordanhill Park, with the first homes delivered by early 2020.

Jordanhill Campus was one of Scotland’s leading teaching facilities until it was vacated by its previous owner, the University of Strathclyde, in 2012. CALA Homes (West) said it is committed to building on the site’s legacy by establishing one of the city’s most desirable and well-designed residential developments.

The development of Jordanhill Park will protect and enhance greenspace within the site, retain the Category B-listed David Stow building and ensure the existing playing fields remain open and available to local community.

Designed by architects 7N, Jordanhill Park will offer a diverse range of homes – from one-bedroom flats to spacious, detached five-bedroom family homes. Construction of the development will create more than 200 new jobs for Glasgow and deliver an economic boost of over £5 million in Gross Added Value. The first apartments, at Southbrae Drive, are set to be completed and on the market by the beginning of 2020.

Work including building demolition and safe disconnection of utilities will begin immediately, and from today in order to protect the public, there will no access to any part of the former campus. Alternative access to the existing playing fields adjacent to the site will be established, ensuring the local community can continue to use and benefit from this facility.

Community notices boards have also been installed around the perimeter of the site to advise of the changes.

Jim McIntyre, managing director, CALA Homes (West), said: “We’re extremely proud of our plans for the former Jordanhill Campus and we’d like to thank the University of Strathclyde for its support throughout the planning and land acquisition process.

“Jordanhill Park is a landmark development for CALA, with its mix of homes to suit all, from young professionals to growing families and downsizers. Located in the heart of Glasgow, this development will provide the city with much needed well-built, high quality homes.

“We have an excellent reputation in the UK of providing communities with aspirational and award-winning homes and it is this experience which we intend to extend, with a sensitive approach, at Jordanhill Park.”
