Community cash boost for Maryhill and Ruchill
Maryhill Housing has more than doubled its Community Fund raising the money it hands out from £30,000 to £80,000.
The cash boost was announced after Maryhill learned local people wanted more money spent on environmental improvements.
Litter-free streets, freshly-painted railings and fixing broken steps were examples of things people wanted. Community events and ideas to promote equality of opportunity will also benefit from the Fund.
Now the Association has appealed to its tenants to apply for the money by coming up with ideas for Ruchill and Maryhill.
Jamie Ballantine, customer engagement manager at Maryhill, said: “Keeping our community looking good is one the top priorities at Maryhill Housing and the Fund can be used in lots of ways to achieve this.
“We have increased the amount of money in the Fund from £30,000 to £80,000. Formerly known as the Community Improvement Fund it had done a power of good work since it was set up in 2009. Now with a new name and a bigger budget we can do even more.
“That’s a lot to set aside to pay for things that enhance Maryhill and Ruchill – and at the same time make a difference to people’s lives.”
Maryhill Housing said it was looking for applications now which meet the following criteria:
- enhance the quality of life in Ruchill and Maryhill, to improve the environment or to fund or support events which promote community togetherness
- encourage community involvement that will help local people such as volunteering
- promote equality of opportunity in areas where Maryhill Housing has its homes.
Projects up to a maximum value of £5000 will be considered. In exceptional circumstances this could be increased slightly.
Jamie added: “All we need are inspirational ideas from the Maryhill and Ruchill communities and we can take the best ideas forward.”
Applications can be submitted to email@example.com.
