Link begins work on East Dunbartonshire affordable homes

Terraced-Houses-windows-amendedLink Group has started work on a £5.4 million affordable homes development in Lennoxtown.

The 32 homes for social rent and 12 homes for New Supply Shared Equity will consist of two-bedroom bungalows (designed to meet the needs of wheelchair-users), one- and two-bedroom flats, and two- and three-bedroom houses.

Set to be completed by January 2018, the new homes are being built by Cruden Building and Renewals Ltd, and will meet Link’s housing design standards.

A combination of “fabric first” and new technology will ensure that these new homes are energy efficient and economical to run.

Bungalow-NEW-ROOF-CORNER-WINDOWLink Group chairman, Roy Stirrat, said: “We are delighted to have been supported by the Scottish Government and East Dunbartonshire Council to enable us to build these new, high quality homes.”

Councillor Stewart MacDonald, convenor of the neighbourhood services committee for East Dunbartonshire Council, said: “The council is delighted to see the development of much needed affordable housing in Lennoxtown and Bearsden.

“These are important and welcome developments for East Dunbartonshire and will help reduce the number of local people waiting to move into a home of their own.”

Link is also on site at Inveroran Drive/Kessington Road in East Dunbartonshire, which will deliver 20 homes for social rent in August 2017.
