An Edinburgh-based charity dedicated to assisting older people and the disabled to remain safely and independently in their own homes has announced two major new appointments.

Care and Repair Edinburgh has appointed Tim Dew as chairman and Louise Love has been appointed to the newly created post of head of operations.

The charity provides a wide variety of services including a volunteer handyperson service, a home from hospital service, small repairs service, adaptations/home improvement service and trades referral service. A new gas services contract has recently been added where eligible clients can be assisted with problems with a gas appliance or water heater.

As founder of Mount Parnassus Partnership Ltd., Tim Dew has been in business in Edinburgh for the past 20 years. Mount Parnassus helps sell businesses and provides business transformation advice to help improve performance. Tim joined the board of Care and Repair Edinburgh in 2014. He has been appointed to the chair following the stepping down of Elaine MacMaster, who has led the board since 2013 and will remain as a member.

Commenting on his new appointment, Tim said: β€œIt must not be underestimated what Elaine has done in the past few years. Under her guidance Care and Repair Edinburgh has developed the organisation into a thriving and forward-looking Charity. In spite of declining funding, services have expanded and the number of elderly and disabled people we are helping is increasing month on month. On behalf of everyone in Care and Repair Edinburgh and our customers, collectively we thank her for everything that she has done. Elaine will be a hard act to follow.”

Louise Love joins the charity from Police Scotland where she held the post of human resources manager. As head of operations, a new post for Care and Repair Edinburgh, Louise will assist chief executive Graham Harper in the daily running of the charity and drive forward new initiatives.

No stranger to the organisation, Louise has held two previous posts, including that of human resources officer.
