Owen Jones to deliver John Wheatley Lecture

Parkhead Housing Association is delighted to announce that Guardian columnist and author Owen Jones will deliver the 2nd annual John Wheatley Lecture on 21st March 2016.

Established as a way of honouring the contribution of the former Member of Parliament for Glasgow Shettleston made to the social and housing policy agenda, the lecture will enable a debate on the social issues of the day and their solutions and the role housing can play in them.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and was very well attended by the housing and wider civic sector.

Parkhead Housing Association chief executive, Jim Strang, said: “When the calibre of the first speaker we secured was so high we were obviously concerned where we would go after that but we believe in Owen Jones we have someone who not only is a fantastic public speaker but someone who is passionate, well informed and surely a fantastic draw for the event.”
