Abbeyfield House in Greenock received a regional gold award at the National Housing for Older People Awards before going on to collect the National Gold Award for Best UK Retirement Housing scheme under 25 units.

Area supervisor Linda Murdoch and house supervisor Julie Shaw attended the event at the Sheridan Suite in Manchester earlier this month.

This year a record of 18,990 residents, staff and visitors took part in the nomination process which lead to 299 regional awards and 27 national awards. The regional winners were announced on March 11, while the 27 national winners had to wait for the main event to learn if they had won a bronze, silver or a gold award.

The event was opened by the Lord Mayor of Manchester, graced by Jennie Bond and entertained by Barbara Nice.
