The Pride in Place Programme for Aberdeen will focus on the North Locality Priority Neighbourhood which comprises Cummings Park, Heathryfold and Middlefield, Northfield, and Mastrick.

The Finance and Resources Committee agreed that the council would be the accountable body for the Aberdeen Pride in Place Programme.

Convener, Councillor Alex McLellan, said: “We look forward to working with the communities to ensure they can benefit from the £20million Pride and Place funding which the UK Government has promised.”

The Pride in Place Programme funding is intended to support a pre-selected area within the city by delivering key infrastructure which aims to increase community capacity in the neighbourhoods with the highest need. Pride in Place Programme is designed to be community-led with Neighbourhood Boards, made up of local people, deciding how to invest the funding, supported by their MP and the local authority.

Part of the council‘s role in the funding agreement is organise and agree:

• recruitment and appointment of a Neighbourhood Board chair;
• establish a Neighbourhood Board and set its terms of reference;
• recruitment and appointment of members to the Board;
• confirm the boundary of the Neighbourhood for the purposes of the Programme (including any alteration of that boundary).
