Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) subsidiary repairs contracts company Argyll Homes for All has appointed Leyla Williams to the post of assistant manager.

Leyla from Oban has worked in both housing management and repairs since joining the ACHA group in 2013 following graduation.

Her new role will see her become an assistant manager with responsibility for supporting repairs contracts for all the Association’s stock in Oban, Lorn and the Isles and Mid Argyll and Kintyre.

Alastair MacGregor, the ACHA group chief executive, said: “I am delighted at Leyla’s success through competitive interview in securing this management role in an area that traditionally young women have not gone to for a career path. We have supported Leyla in her Construction Management courses which have been a key part in her direction of travel.”

He added: “I wish Leyla all the very best in her new role which reflects a further example of ACHA’s work in growing and developing young people in the business.”

Leyla Williams said: “Over the past two years, I have thrown every ounce of energy into my job as a contract’s administrator. Being promoted to assistant manager, means all the hard work has paid off and I can start to put into practice the theory I have learnt from my business management degree and current studies in construction management. I can also begin my journey as a line manager and look forward to training and supporting members of the team.

“Admittedly, I work in a male dominated environment and it is humbling that neither my gender nor my age has prevented me from succeeding at Argyll Homes For All.”
