Almond Housing staff run 10K for local charity

Staff from Almond Housing Association took part in this year’s Great Scottish Run, running 10 kilometres to raise money for local charity Homestart West Lothian.

On Tuesday, the charity’s manager Shelley Bowman and senior administrator Gillian Stewart gratefully received the cheque for £750 on behalf of Homestart West Lothian.

Ms Bowman and Ms Stewart said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Saima, Donna, Sharon, Lynsey and Sandy from Almond Housing Association raised £750 by successfully completing the 10k Great Scottish Run.

“The funds raised will support our family activities. A big thanks to Almond Housing Association who added to the pot too!”

Saima Akhtar, community engagement officer at Almond Housing, added: “It was a great opportunity for us help a local charity, and Homestart does a great job of offering support, friendship and practical help to families with children in West Lothian.

“We all really enjoyed taking part, and for some of us it was our first run, so we were all really glad to have completed it.”
