The One Council Partnership Fund (OCPF) supports activities to help reduce inequalities and make East Lothian a better place to live. The focus of the funding awards for 2024/25 will be to support initiatives and activities which help community-based organisations to:

• Address inequalities and the impact of the cost of living crisis (including digital inclusion)
• Promote wellbeing and reduce social isolation
• Provide more youth work opportunities for children and young people
• Respond to the climate emergency
• Promote volunteering

Applicants should reference how their project meets the strategic priorities as outlined in the Council Plan 2022-2027 and the East Lothian Plan 2017-2027 and show how they will evidence the positive difference the funding will make. Applicants will also be expected to demonstrate other funding sources they have explored to maximise inward investment through alternative funding opportunities.

The One Council Partnership Fund issued over £1m in grants for 2023/24. Projects funded included People Know How to help people build confidence in using computers, Milan to assist isolated older South Asian residents and Dadswork to help develop parenting skills.

Cabinet member for Community Wellbeing Councillor Colin McGinn, said: “The past few years have been particularly testing for many, and the support that is provided by community-based groups, volunteers and the third sector across East Lothian is more important than it’s ever been. We are fortunate to have dedicated organisations and groups who are committed to supporting those in need within our area. The One Council Partnership Fund allows us to contribute towards this vital work and to build on the support provided within our communities.

“The Council’s financial challenges mean that vital that we focus resources on the priorities that will make a difference and contribute to the aims of our Council Plan. The current economic climate continues to present challenges for many residents therefore applications that help provide community-based support for local people, reduce inequalities, increase opportunities for connection and wellbeing or that promote volunteering will all help. We also recognise the importance of youth work and the opportunities that this can provide for our children and young people to improve their wellbeing.”

Applications are invited from Monday 30 October until Friday 1 December. Decision letters will be issued in March 2024 following confirmation of the Council’s approved budget for financial year 2024/25.
