Barrhead Housing gains Scotland’s first flexible working accreditation
Barrhead Housing has been recognised as one of Scotland’s most flexible workplaces, becoming one of the first 10 organisations in the country to achieve Flexible Workplace Accreditation.
The East Renfrewshire housing association received the accreditation through a programme organised by social enterprise Flexibility Works.
Barrhead Housing chair John Hamilton said completing the programme demonstrates the organisation’s strong commitment to a positive, productive and flexible working culture.
“Under our chief executive Lorna Wilson,” he said, “we have established ourselves as an early leader in flexible working, with practices that go far beyond a simple box-ticking exercise. Ultimately, this is helping us deliver better homes and services for our tenants.”
Flexible Workplace Accreditation is a national benchmark designed to provide a clear, practical framework for employers to formalise and improve their flexible working practices.
Barrhead Housing was among the first organisations to receive accreditation at an event held at the Social Hub Glasgow. Other accredited organisations included Flexible Childcare Services, Accountability Edinburgh, Social Investment Scotland, Greenspace Scotland, Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland, Into Work, Melville Housing Association, Scullion Law and Working Rite.
Chief executive Lorna Wilson added: “I truly believe our positive approach to creating more adaptable and inclusive ways of working is paying off, both in terms of highly motivated staff and improved service delivery.”
