Bicycle storage shelters installed in Aberdeen multi-storeys

Secure bicycle storage shelters have been installed in multi-storey blocks across Aberdeen.

Residents living in Kings Court, St Machar Court, Donside Court, Inverdon Court, Balgownie Court and St Ninian Court will soon be able to safely and securely store their bikes.

Aberdeen City Council co-leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “These new communal lockable bike shelters will make it easier for people living in multi-storey blocks to store their bikes.

“That will make it simpler for multi-storey block residents to cycle, which brings health and environmental benefits.”

Convener of Communities, Housing and Public Protection Councillor Miranda Radley said: “Having these new facilities in multi-storeys are so important for those who wish to cycle more for leisure or to commute.”

The shelters are located outside of each block and are free to use on a first come first served basis, with access available to store 20 bicycles at a time.

It is anticipated that if the initial six shelters are popular then more will be installed across the city.
