Bield joins HACT’s UK HIVE sector-wide innovation hub as Founding Partner

HACT has announced eleven Founding Partners in UK HIVE – a new sector-wide innovation hub designed to help social housing organisations tackle the challenges that cannot be solved alone.

Founding Partners include Clarion Housing Group, Orbit and Adecco, alongside Barnsbury Housing Association, Bield Housing & Care, Gateway HA, The Guinness Partnership, PHA Homes, Plymouth Community Housing, Regenda and Sutton Housing Partnership.

Built on extensive research with more than 20 partner organisations and over 150 stakeholders, UK HIVE is designed to help the sector work collectively on the biggest challenges we cannot solve alone.

It provides:

  • A shared space for co-design, innovation, shared learning and testing
  • A cost-effective, trusted environment where partners can pool resource and expertise
  • An engine for knowledge exchange, evidence, and practical solutions
  • Governance and infrastructure to sustain collaboration over time

By bringing together organisations from across the housing sector and beyond, UK HIVE creates the conditions for faster progress on shared problems — expanding what partners can achieve individually and building a more resilient, connected sector over time.

Amongst other early investors, Clarion Housing Group, Orbit and Adecco have joined UK HIVE as Founding Partners, recognising the potential of UK HIVE to act as a hub for testing ideas, sharing learning, pooling resources and scaling what works.

Catherine Thomas, chief corporate affairs officer at Clarion Housing Group, said: “Clarion is delighted to be joining HACT’s UK HIVE as a Founding Partner and to be working alongside organisations committed to finding new ways to tackle shared challenges.

“Our Five New Giants of Opportunity report highlighted the importance of collaboration across housing and beyond if we are to address the issues facing residents and unlock the opportunities that will shape their futures. UK HIVE provides a powerful platform to do so, enabling us to share expertise, test new ideas and scale what works.

“We know that lasting progress is rarely achieved in isolation, and through UK HIVE we believe that together we can accelerate innovation, strengthen our collective impact and deliver meaningful benefits for our residents and communities for years to come.”

Andrew van Doorn OBE, chief executive of HACT, said: “Welcoming eleven Founding Partners to UK HIVE is a significant moment — not just for HACT, but for the sector as a whole. Social housing is facing a generation-defining set of challenges, and it’s clear that no single organisation, however well-resourced, can solve them alone.

These forward-thinking organisations have shown a commitment that gives me real confidence that the sector is ready to work differently. This is the beginning of something that I believe will have a lasting impact on housing — and on the people who depend on it.”
