Borders financial inclusion team achieves welfare benefit accreditation

Scottish Borders Council’s Financial Inclusion Team has successfully achieved accreditation under the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers (SNSIAP).

The recognition reflects the council’s commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible welfare benefits advice and support to residents across the Borders.

Led by the Scottish Legal Aid Board, the accreditation process involved a rigorous audit of the local authority’s service standards, casework procedures, and community engagement.

The council’s Financial Inclusion Team is a dedicated service that offers advice and support on welfare benefits and financial matters to residents across the region.

An online consultation has been launched to allow residents, partners, and stakeholders to help shape the future of the team.

Councillor Robin Tatler, SBC’s executive member for public safety and resilience, said: “The Financial Inclusion team is a vital council service, which supports individuals with welfare and financial advice.  Whether you have used the service before or are new to the area, your voice really matters, and we want to hear from you.”

The consultation is open until 23 November 2025.
