Thenue Housing has appointed Brian Gannon as its interim chief executive.

The announcement marks a welcome return to Thenue for Brian, who left Thenue in 2019 to become chief executive of West of Scotland Housing Association – a position he has since retired from.

Brian’s period at Thenue will come to an end when a permanent chief executive is appointed next year.

Brian said: “I’m delighted to return to an organisation where I spent 21 very enjoyable years. Thenue always had an outstanding reputation in our sector and there is a real opportunity for the next CEO to enhance that reputation going forward.”

In the coming weeks, Thenue will begin an open and transparent recruitment process.

Thenue employs over 70 experienced and dedicated staff to manage around 3200 homes across six communities in Glasgow with a significant building programme and further opportunities for growth. Two of the standout developments include new homes at French Street, Dalmarnock and the re-purposing and adjacent new build of a former derelict school in Calton.

Members of the new Thenue board

Thenue’s current board is made up of experienced leaders and representatives. They are leaders in the field of community-based housing, along with extremely experienced tenant members who have, for many years, successfully led tenant engagement with Thenue in their respective communities.

Thenue’s chairperson Lindsay Forrest added: “Thenue has been developing quality homes, driving engagement and supporting our local communities for many years, with tenants at the heart of our decision making process.

“We have been making large strides to improve communication, accessibility and affordability through our recently-launched tenant portal along with supporting tenants with our vital financial inclusion help and energy support teams.

“This has resulted in the remarkable achievement of putting over £1.4 million back into people’s pockets in just one year.

“I look forward to playing my part in helping shape that future and supporting the delivery of our services.”
