Briar Homes celebrates trio of nominations in Herald Property Awards

Family-owned housebuilder Briar Homes has secured three shortlistings at the Herald Property Awards for Scotland 2025 for its Meadowood development in Garthamlock.

The development comprises 22 three-bedroom homes, offering a mix of detached, semi-detached, and terraced properties. Located in the established suburb of Garthamlock, Meadowood offers direct access to nature and green spaces, connected via a network of nature reserve paths.

The development has secured nominations in the categories of Development of the Year, Best Family Home (Small) and Best Show Home.

A particular highlight is the spacious three-bedroom semi-detached Ash show home, nominated in both the Best Family Home and Best Show Home categories. Featuring a nature-inspired interior design that reflects its picturesque surroundings, with the development backing onto Cardowan Moss Local Nature Reserve and close to Hogganfield Loch.

Paul Kelly, managing director of AS Homes Scotland and Briar Homes, said: “We are delighted that Meadowood has been recognised with three nominations at these prestigious awards. The response to the development, and to the stunning Ash show home in particular, has been exceptional. This recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication to creating high-quality homes across Scotland.”

Also shortlisted is The Avenue, an exclusive retirement community by Cruden Homes - its third major accolade this year.

The nomination for ‘Development of the Year’ follows an impressive award season for The Avenue, which has already scooped Housing Development of the Year (Small, Private Sale) at the 2025 Scottish Home Awards and Private Development of the Year (Medium) at the 2025 Homes for Scotland Awards.

Located in the suburb of Barnton, just minutes from Edinburgh’s bustling city centre, The Avenue’s boutique offering includes 48 energy-efficient apartments, penthouses, and executive villas, each built to a high specification.

Designed exclusively for those aged 55 and over, the development combines elegant, hotel-inspired living and thoughtful amenities. Residents can enjoy access to a stylish club lounge and guest suite, and will benefit from a dedicated concierge service. The Avenue’s focus on sustainability, quality and design sets it apart in the retirement living sector.

Hazel Davies, sales and marketing director of Cruden Homes, said: “The Avenue offers a truly unique opportunity for those aged 55 and over to live in luxurious, peaceful homes, alongside a lovely community of like-minded neighbours. We prioritised quality and innovation from the outset, and it is fantastic to see this commitment recognised with our recent award successes and this latest nomination.”

The Herald Property Awards, hosted in partnership with Prime Property Auctions, celebrate Scotland’s most innovative and successful home and commercial builders, developers, agents, interior designers and registered social landlords.

Winners will be announced during a glittering awards ceremony packed with property professionals at The DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central on Thursday, 25 September.
