Callum Chomczuk to join College Employers Scotland

Callum Chomczuk
College Employers Scotland (CES) has appointed current CIH Scotland national director Callum Chomczuk as its new director.
He succeeds Gavin Donoghue, who was promoted to CEO of Colleges Scotland in June 2025.
At the CIH, Callum has led work to improve standards, skills, and policy across the housing sector. He also chaired the Scottish Housing Day 2025 steering group.
It is expected that Callum will take up his post in January 2026.
Dr David Watt, chair of CES, said: “It’s fantastic to have Callum as our new director. College Employers Scotland has entered a pivotal phase, advancing vital work in areas such as collective bargaining reform — progress made possible by much-improved industrial relations.
“With his extensive experience as a leader, advocate, and policy developer, we’re confident Callum will accelerate this momentum, strengthening our positive relationships with trade union colleagues and helping colleges remain excellent employers and world-class centres of learning.”
Callum Chomczuk added: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new director of College Employers Scotland.
“The college sector plays a critical role in driving sustainable growth, supporting social mobility, and developing the skills Scotland needs for the future. With more than 218,000 learners studying in our colleges each year, the role of the employers’ association and trade union partners in negotiating fair and sustainable settlements has never been more important.
“I look forward to leading the team and working in partnership with members and stakeholders to ensure colleges have the workforce and resources to deliver outstanding learning for students.”
Callum Chomczuk announced his decision to leave the CIH earlier this month. Recruitment for Callum’s successor is open, with a deadline for applications of 3 November.
