Care and Repair Edinburgh, the charity dedicated to assisting older people and the disabled to live in their own homes and communities for as long as possible, has announced changes to its board of directors.

Andrew Senew, who has been a friend of the charity for some time and is managing director of Home Instead in Edinburgh, a company providing high quality care at home for older people, has joined the board.

Euan Ballantyne, who has been with Tesco Bank since 2009 and has held leadership roles across several commercial and product areas, has also become a board member. He is currently head of mortgage intermediaries at the Bank.

Elaine MacMaster, has stood down after seven years’ service to the organisation, her final two as chairman. Susanne Cameron-Nielsen is also to stand down, having recently been appointed chair of the Scottish-Danish Council. Susanne served on the board for five years.

Andrew said: “This is very exciting time to join the Board at Care and Repair Edinburgh. The charity is celebrating its 30th anniversary and now ramping up its activities to assist older and disabled people to stay safely and independently in their own homes for as long as possible. We are working closely with NHS Lothian and the City of Edinburgh Council to assist with hospital discharges and enable people to make quick, smooth and lasting transitions from hospital care to their own homes.”

Euan said: “I look forward to the time ahead with so much happening at Care and Repair Edinburgh as we extend our services to help achieve the Government’s flagship policy of health and social care integration. I am really interested in everything the charity does as I enjoy DIY, although without being blessed with the same skills that the rest of the Care & Repair team have.”

Tim Dew, Care and Repair Edinburgh’s chairman, added: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew and Euan and their boundless enthusiasm for improving lives.

“I pay tribute to Elaine and Susanne and thank them for their tireless support for Care and Repair Edinburgh. Susanne has a wealth of knowledge in public affairs and in particular in the healthcare field. Elaine guided the organisation through a number of changes in her two years as chair and her legacy is a thriving organisation, well-equipped to deal with the challenges ahead. We wish them well for the future.”
