Cathedral concert to raise funds for Social Bite

Glasgow Cathedral will this year shine the spotlight on the inspiring work of the homelessness charity Social Bite with its Annual Charity Concert.
Sponsored by philanthropic organisation The Watson Foundation, the event on October 29 promises to be an unmissable evening of music and song.
Tickets are now on sale priced £12, and the money raised will go to Social Bite and two other organisations engaged with tackling homelessness - Glasgow’s Lodging House Mission and “Wallace of Campsie Lifehouse” run by The Salvation Army.
The Watson Foundation has a long history of philanthropic endeavour and was set up by one of Scotland’s foremost business voices, Dr John Watson.
The Foundation has been a substantial funder of the work of Social Bite, which has blazed a trail on the issue and raised public consciousness to new heights on the challenging and ever-present task of defeating homelessness.
Together, the two men have forged a close working relationship since Josh co-founded Social Bite in 2012 raising millions of pounds for the homeless.
Both have since been honoured for their charitable commitment – Dr Watson receiving an OBE and later a CBE for his charitable work and contribution to education and business, and Josh an MBE for his achievements with Social Bite.
Josh Littlejohn MBE said: “We are profoundly grateful to Glasgow Cathedral for choosing Social Bite to be among the beneficiaries of this concert. Fundraising remains a vital aspect of Social Bite’s work and we rely on the generosity and kindness of others to help us make a difference.
“Our relationship with John Watson and The Watson Foundation stretches back many years and John is, without a doubt, one of the leading Scottish philanthropists of his time. Put simply, we could not have achieved so much of the work of Social Bite without him.”
Dr Watson added: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this concert which offers not just a fabulous evening of music and song but which has a strong charitable purpose. Every pound raised through our sponsorship of the event along with the tickets sales will be spent on the homeless.
“Josh Littlejohn and Social Bite continue to be a powerful voice on homelessness and the organisation is now a national force which has focused public attention one of the great ills of modern life.”
The concert, now in its third year, has again been organised by the Glasgow Cathedral Outreach Committee. All musicians are giving their time free of charge.
Cathedral organist Professor Malcolm Sim – who is also an Intensive Care Consultant at the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital - has led the planning of the concert by sourcing musicians and formulating the programme.
It will include organ music, classical guitar duo, piano, a full choir and Baroque trio.
The Glasgow Cathedral Annual Charity Concert is at the Cathedral, Castle Street, on Thursday, October 29 at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available from tinyurl.com/GlasgowCathedralConcert2026 and can also be purchased on the door on the night.
