Construction and manufacturing group CCG has begun the penultimate phase of a multi-million-pound, multi-year fire door replacement programme in South Lanarkshire at Logan Tower in Cambuslang.

The Glasgow-based firm has been working on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council since 2022, with the installation of fire doors to multiple multi-storey residences across the regional area.

The commencement of works at Logan Tower follows closely on the heels of the successful completion of three additional high-rise residences in the town.

Wyler Heights in Hamilton is now the final remaining residence scheduled to undergo upgrades, which are set to begin in the spring.

Over 1700 residences and nearly 4,000 door sets will have been installed by the time the £10m programme is completed in mid-2026.

Jim Cunningham, CCG Asset Management manager, said: “The South Lanarkshire Council Fire Door Replacement Programme is by far and away the largest individual supply and fit project CCG has ever taken on. While we are not at its end yet, to have reached this stage is a key milestone for us, and we are incredibly thankful to the Council for the support they have sustained since the very beginning three years ago.”

CCG fabricates its fire door sets in advanced manufacturing premises at its company headquarters, where engineered timber is used for the door leaf and redwood timber is used to create the door frame.

Fire-rated ironmongery and intumescent strips are installed to achieve the desired level of certification and performance, and all paintwork is robotically applied.

The completed sets installed throughout each of the multi-storey blocks comprise a mix of flat entrance, accessible entrance, and common access doors, as well as all common store doors, each providing up to 60 minutes of fire resistance.

Together, the Q-Mark certified products enhance safety for both residents and emergency personnel in the event of a fire, while also delivering improved security.

Jim Cunningham added: “Our one-stop-shop supply-and-fit service offers clients such as South Lanarkshire Council – and their tenants – the assurance of a single, accountable chain of responsibility.

“Fire doors are installed with the core aim of safeguarding lives, and our priority will always be to deliver our products both swiftly and to the highest quality standards, ensuring residents can feel comfortable and secure in their homes. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved across South Lanarkshire and look forward to continuing our work into the New Year.”

The South Lanarkshire Council Fire Door Replacement Programme was procured through the Scottish Procurement Alliance.
