Charity Spotlight: Cadworks partners with Street Soccer Scotland’s ‘Kitback’ project

Real estate investment firm FORE Partnership has announced that Cadworks, its flagship Glasgow development, will partner with Street Soccer Scotland’s ‘Kitback’ initiative, which collects, upcycles and resells pre-loved football kits.

The Kitback initiative collects men’s, women’s and children’s football shirts in good condition, with shirts resold via kitback.org.uk and at in-person pop-up events. Money raised from sales goes directly to support the Street Soccer charity. Shirts that cannot be resold are given to players in need of adequate sportswear attending Street Soccer’s free football sessions across the country.

Street Soccer Scotland creates positive change through football, combating homelessness, social isolation and adverse mental health, offering a safe space for people in need of support. The charity is a longstanding partner of the Scottish Football Association and was also the official charity partner of the recent SPFL Tennent’s Sixes at Braehead Arena.

Cadworks will collect pre-loved football strips from both tenants and members of the public between 29th October and 26th November.

The building will also host a pop-up market to support Street Soccer Scotland on 26th November from 11am-2pm. The market will also be open to the public, with hundreds of pre-loved football shirts for sale.

Darryn Cain, Kitback co-ordinator, said: “Kitback is more than just a campaign; it’s a movement that brings together our shared love of football, environmental awareness and a collective commitment to supporting local communities.

“By donating your pre-loved football shirts and buying from Kitback, you’re not only reducing environmental waste but also helping to empower and enrich people’s lives through everything we do at Street Soccer.

“We’re delighted to be working with Cadworks and are looking forward to supporting the donation drive and pop-up event on 26th November.”

Basil Demeroutis, managing partner of FORE Partnership, said: “Football is one of those rare topics that unites us more than it divides us and regardless of who we support, we come together to acknowledge the power of the game to build community and connection, and to support people facing isolation. I’m delighted that Cadworks is able to work with Street Soccer Scotland to host its collection and pop-up market and look forward to supporting this vital charity.”

Cadworks, which comprises 95,000 sq.ft. of Grade A space, is recognised as one of the country’s greenest office developments.

It features Scotland’s first cycle-in access ramp, anti-viral air purifying paint, extensive storage for bicycles, parking for electric vehicles only, a gym and fitness room, and has formed innovative partnerships with grassroots community organisations.

The building also features a vibrant ‘Urban Village Hall’ event space on the ground floor, which, along with the entrance foyer, has recently been remodelled to create highly contemporary, even more flexible space.
