Charity Spotlight: New community grant fund open for applications in East Dunbartonshire

East Dunbartonshire Council’s new Local Community Grant Fund aims to make a positive difference across the area.

Organisations can apply for up to £4,000 to finance projects that:

• Bring people together
• Improve wellbeing
• Reduce isolation
• Support children, young people and/or families
• Help people who may face barriers to taking part.

The closing date for the first round of funding is 21 September 2026. It is envisaged a second round will open in early 2027.

Applications are being invited from groups that have a constitution and a bank account, are not for profit, can provide independently verified accounts and strive to bring benefits to residents of East Dunbartonshire.

The East Dunbartonshire Local Community Grant Fund is a new initiative which follows on from the previous grants scheme that ran for many years.

Councillor Gordan Low, leader of the council, said: “We are keen to hear from local groups with good ideas that will have a positive impact in their community. The project does not need to be large or complex – small ideas can make a huge difference.

“This new fund will help to empower the unsung heroes working within East Dunbartonshire’s towns and villages.

“We know that applying for funding can sometimes feel daunting, especially for small or volunteer-led groups, so we’re here to help.”
