Detailed mixed-use plans revealed for Edinburgh scrapyard
56three Architects has unveiled detailed plans for a proposed mixed-use development at a scrapyard site in Edinburgh.
Recycling firm Dalton Metal Recycling is seeking to redevelop its site at 52-66 Salamander Street with purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) and build-to-rent accommodation as well as retail/commercial space and associated works.
Having operated there for more than 30 years, the firm is looking to relocate and capitalise on mounting residential interest in the area by freeing up the industrial site for residential development.
Under the plans, 216 private rental apartments will be constructed alongside 279 ‘student beds’. The development will also look to incorporate interior courtyards as well as space for a future Leith Connections cycle path.
