Drumchapel Housing Co-operative brings World Cup to summer fete

World Cup fever came to Drumchapel with a football-themed summer fete courtesy of Drumchapel Housing Co-operative.
The annual event for Drumchapel Housing Co-operative tenants took on a football flavour and was the ideal curtain-raiser for Scotland’s magnificent first match win in the tournament.
Held at their offices, the family fun event drew a large crowd despite the changeable weather.
Free food and soft drinks were on offer, along with face painting (with Saltires proving predictably popular), football skills and games, music, a children’s entertainer, live animals for youngsters to see and touch plus a raffle and tombola.
The summer fete is a much-anticipated neighbourhood event in Drumchapel and forms part of Drumchapel Housing Co-operative’s ongoing and deep-rooted community engagement.
One tenant, Sharon Junner, who brought along her son Logan (3), said: “We look forward to the fete every year as do many local families who bring along their kids.
“It’s great that Drumchapel Housing Co-operative lay on such a brilliant free event and the youngsters love it.”
Marisa Gioiella, senior housing officer, added: “We would like to thank everyone who came along for our World Cup summer fete. Our annual summer fete is a much loved community event and took on added significance this year with a World Cup theme – something everyone is talking about with high excitement levels as we cheer on our team.
“The fete was the perfect prelude to the team winning their first World Cup match in the tournament.”
Drumchapel Housing Co-operative thanked a number of suppliers and contractors who contributed to the day’s success.
