Continuing its commitment to Giving Something Back, this year’s celebrations took place at Hayfield Community Centre in Kirkcaldy and brought together local organisations, tenants and residents for an evening of inspiration, community spirit and plenty of pizza.

Now in its sixth year, the Giving Something Back Grants programme was established to recognise and support some of the fantastic organisations making a real difference across Fife.

These grants are made possible by the generosity of contractors who join Fife Housing Group’s charitable framework, donating 2% of their invoiced costs to support local good causes.

Some of the successful grant applicants were invited to the event to ‘pitch’ their projects to local residents and a panel of judges, who then had the difficult job of deciding how much funding each group would receive.

This year’s judging panel included Brian Fisher, chair of the Fife Housing Group board, Caroline O’Donnell, director of operations and Heather Duffin, tenant and co-chair of Resident VOICES.

Following a fantastic round of pitches, Fife Housing Group awarded funding to 12 community organisations: Valleyfield Community Club, Fife Gingerbread, Rosyth Sharks RFC, Rosyth Men’s Shed, Abbeyview Baby and Toddler Group, Lynnes Support Space, New4U Clothing Bank, Levenmouth Home-Start, Autism Rocks Fife, The Central Park Community Trust, Fife Steel Basketball Club and Fit Ball United.

Judge Heather Duffin said: “It was lovely to hear directly from the groups about the work they do and the difference it makes in their communities. There are so many people doing brilliant things across Fife and it was great to be part of an evening that celebrated and supported them.”

Other highlights of the evening included delicious pizzas provided by Piping Hot Pizza, crafts and games for children, a tombola and the chance to win a tablet.

The next round of Giving Something Back Grants is expected to open for applications in spring 2027.
